Is Retinol safe for younger skin?

I bought the Philosophy On a Clear Day Acne system. It includes a foam face wash, acne cream, spot treatment, And a retinol lotion.
I heard Retinol is bad for teens though (im 17) and it causes redness. I already struggle with redness. will this make my acne worse or should I just skip the retinol?

Also, If you have used this skin care system, Did it help clear your acne?

Retinol can be very harsh on acne, but if it’s not bothering you or making you red, than it can only help you in the long run. Youthful skin is going through so many changes and often doesn’t have severe sun damage that young, so that is why Retinol is not a big seller in your age group. Retinol works deep in the skin to eliminate sun damage – and was all the rage in the 90′s for this reason………..BUT women weren’t using SPF during the day time – and so then it backfired 10 fold.

Retinol is a fantastic component in skincare, but you HAVE TO WEAR SUNSCREEN if you use any retinol product!! Whether you put it on in the day or night – wear SPF during sun hours, or the retinol in your product will backfire and create more sun damage, as it exposes the skin severely. Please heed this warning.

However, if you already struggle with redness and this the Philosophy product isn’t making leaps and bounds improving your skin – then switch to something more calming – or only use the retinol at night. If you don’t want to use it – give it to your mom or a woman over 30, with the SPF warning. They will appreciate it.
